It’s not us, it’s them

burnTreesIt is not us who burned Ali Dawabshe, 1.5 years old, and his mother Reham to death. It is not us who burned his father Sa’ad and his brother Ahmed. It’s not us, it’s them. We do not burn people. We are the good guys chasing the bad Nazis who burned people because they were different, chasing them to the end of the world and Buenos Aires to bring them to justice because they once burned us only because we were different. So we know what it is to be burned, so please don’t talk our ears off, we did not burn anyone. It’s not us, it’s them.
We also did not burn the Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fish, by the Sea of Galilee, where five loaves and two fishes were enough to feed five thousand hungry people. It’s not us, it’s them. We know a thing or two about burning churches down and hungry people. Ask any school kid and he will tell you about the Kristallnacht and how many synagogues were burned down and how our heroes risked their lives to smuggle food into the ghetto to feed hungry people. So please don’t talk our ears off, we did not burn any church down. It’s not us, it’s them.
We also did not burn Mohammed Abu Khdeir to death, 14 years old kid, just because he was a Palestinian, and a child, and weak, and different. It’s not us, it’s them. We know what it means to be weak and different. We were always the few facing the many, the weak versos the strong. Like David before he became king, holding a slingshot, in the old days, when Tabor was just a name of a mountain, not of a rifle. So please don’t talk our ears off. We did not burn any Abu Khdeir. It’s not us, it’s them.
We also did not burn the first grade class at the Bilingual School in Jerusalem down, where people were trying to bridge the differences and highlight the common. It’s not us, it’s them. We always extended our hand, and we always set up bridges, and built just society, and always felt sorry because there is really nobody to talk to on the other side. No partner. We who know so well that where they have burned books, they will end in burning human beings. So please don’t talk our ears off. We did not burn anything down. It’s not us, it’s them.
