MK (Member of Knesset) Haneen Zoabi is now under investigation for suspicion of incitement. Really. The Attorney General of the State of Israel ordered yesterday a criminal investigation against MK Haneen Zoabi who faced unbridled incitement by those who are in power and those of ordinary citizens, after she said: “While I disagree with them, these people could see no other way to change the reality they live in, other than to force Israel to sober up a bit, by using these measures.“, in regards to the murder of the three yeshiva students in the West Bank a few weeks ago. MK Haneen Zoabi is a citizen of the State of Israel and an elected Member of Parliament (MK) representing her constituency. Israeli Rabbis call for ban of Arabs in Jewish neighborhoods, and MK Haneen Zoabi is being investigated for suspicion of incitement. Israeli Foreign Minister calls for ban of Arabs business, but MK Haneen Zoabi is being investigated for suspicion of incitement. Extreme right wing LEHAVA are chasing non-Jews in the streets of Jerusalem, but MK Haneen Zoabi is being investigated for suspicion of incitement. Jewish youths wearing black shirts with neo-Nazis European symbols, chasing and beating left wing protesters almost anywhere in Israel and shout Kill the Arabs and Death to the Leftists, but MK Haneen Zoabi is being investigated for suspicion of incitement. The leader of the second largest party in the Knesset is not willing to talk with “the Zoabi’s”, (in free translation: he is not willing to communicate with the Arabs within the parliament), but MK Haneen Zoabi is being investigated for suspicion of incitement. Disturbing photograph of her together with a dog, entitled “Two dogs for adoption” is on Facebook, but MK Haneen Zoabi is being investigated for suspicion of incitement. Immunity as a Knesset member does not stand for her and she is beaten and handcuffed by police during a protest, but MK Haneen Zoabi is being investigated for suspicion of incitement.
What exactly is the difference between what MK Haneen Zoabi said and what Ehud Barak said (“If I were a Palestinian in the right age, I would join one of the Resistance organization“, with Gideon Levy, March 1998)? Both mean basically the same. Both agree that the occupied can resist the occupier. So why is this assault on MK Haneen Zoabi taking place? Maybe it’s because Ehud Barak is the most decorated soldier of the IDF and therefore he is allowed to say things normal citizen is not allowed. Or maybe because he was the Chief of Staff of the IDF or perhaps because he was a member of a Kibbutz at one time. Or maybe it’s because Ehud Barak is a Jew and MK Haneen Zoabi is an Arab. And as such She represents her constituency, who are largely Arabs as well. Surprisingly enough, Israel has a large group of citizens who are not Jews. Something like 25% of the Israeli population. And they are mostly Arabs. And they are all citizens. And Israeli Jews somehow expect MK Haneen Zoabi to sing “Soul of a Jew yearns” emotionally and with devotion and joy, and to salute the flag with the icon embedded in it which means nothing to her, and to the public that she represents, or at least not to disturbe the Jewish community when they do. So MK Haneen Zoabi is a bad girl and she does not meet their expectations, and in fact she even does the opposite, which is annoying, and disturb the peace, and she puts a mirror in front of the Jewish-Israeli community and they don’t like the picture. But that’s how it should work, at least until the black shirts with the the neo-Nazis symbols take over democratic in the country.
